The Bawnacre was the venue for the Association
Confernce with Connor Fitzgerald F.A.I. referee, John Ferry FIFA assessor and
Alan SnoddyIFA Development Officer. After a fine dinner
provided by GeoargeBeacom and his staff we where ready to begin
the meeting. Association Chairman Basil Marshall welcome 43 referees and guests. John Ferry was first up and gave us
a presentation on the structures at the IFA for refereeing and the huge strides that have been
made in the last few years especially in Fermanagh and that the Association was leading the way in development. The biggest
surprise was the number of referees in the room bar a few have been assessed this season unheard of in recent times.
A long term friend of the association was up next Connor Fitzgerald FAI referee, Connor produced an interactive group
perception on how to prepare and focus for matches both mentally and physically this was hugely enjoyed by members and
a lot was learned from this excellent presentation. Another familiar face Alan Snoddy
former World Cup referee and current referee supremo in NI, Alan gave us a talk on Dissent and
how to deal with it using a dvd of the recent meeting between Porto and Aresnal. Finally Gerry Flynn was presented a FIFA Pendant by Alan for his services as a assistant at European level
and New boys on the block Marty Long, Scott Briers, Jonny Thompson and Jonny McGlinchy
where presented with certificates on passing the recent referees beginners course, with David Carson was presented with
his referees badge and Deryck Wilson was honour for 250 games. A successful
night was closed with Basil thanking guests and referees for attending
